A type of chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.
Angina pectoris is a type of chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. It's a symptom of coronary artery disease. Stable angina goes away with rest or medicine. Unstable angina doesn't get better with rest. It is a medical emergency.
Angina feels like squeezing, pressure, heaviness, tightness or pain in the chest. It can be a new pain or pain that keeps coming back.
Treatment depends on the type of angina. Treatment may include lifestyle changes, medicines, or a heart procedure or heart surgery.
