Pleurisy is a condition in which the layers of tissue that line the lungs and chest cavity become inflamed. Infections, such as the flu, and certain medications can cause pleurisy.

Pleurisy causes chest pain that worsens during breathing.

Treatment might include antibiotics, pain relievers, and rest.
