A viral infection spread mainly by mosquito bites.
Yellow fever is a viral infection spread by mosquito species common to areas of Africa and South America.
Mild cases may cause no symptoms, or may cause fever and chills, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Serious cases may cause dangerously high fever, bleeding, or failure of the liver, kidney or heart.
There's no treatment for yellow fever other than support for symptoms. Vaccination is recommended before traveling to certain areas.
